311 is a band that has no superstars. 311 is a band that acts as a unit, where all of the parts are necessary to make the whole. When the drummer has a drum solo, the rest of the band takes up the sticks to join along. The two singers, Hexum and Martinez, complimented each other very well and certainly used their time when the other was singing to get the crowd dancing.

311's first of two nights at the Hammerstein Ballroom promises a different setlist for the second show. The spontaneity of their shows is just one reason that keeps fans like Sean (thanks for the setlist) coming back. Sean has been to 35 shows and I'm sure night number two will make it 36. When the crowd was asked who was coming back for the second night, over half the audience raised their hands, so Sean will have some good company.

Opening act The Exit played to a near capacity crowd. Guitarist and vocalist, Ben Brewer was clearly influenced by U2 with his Edge style guitar and Bonoesque (is that a word?) lyric writing. Songs like "Home For an Island" and "Back to the Rebels" make it clear that this is a band with a message.
