This show had it all: The fire, the explosions, the dancing girls, the onscreen visuals and a chopper on stage, and that was just the first band. Motley Crue came on strong despite the many empty seats and kept getting stronger. All the hits were played and although Vince Neil's voice gave out more times in one night than Ozzy's on a tour, the Crue certainly proved that they were going to be a very tough act to follow.
After a 40-minute set change, Aerosmith stormed the stage with all guns blazing. Tyler, Perry and the rest of the band proved that these old timers can still keep up with anyone. Aerosmith didn't rely on fire and glitz and chose to concentrate more on the music. One wouldn't guess that Tyler had throat surgery earlier this year and Perry showed how much of an influence he truly was for bands like Motley Crue. The absence of Tom Hamilton (recovering from radiotherapy stemming from throat cancer) was noticed, but covered nicely by Joe Perry Project bassist, David Hull. While the commeraderie between bands may be friendly, one could sense a level of competition between them, with both trying to outdo the other. I can guarantee that the only winner will certainly be the audience. |
