It would seem that Zach de La Rocha, Kim Thayall and Ben Shephard are not needed anymore as the fusion of Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine have made them somewhat obsolete. The Soundgarden and Rage songs that were played sounded as if they had always been Audioslave songs. Even the Temple of the Dog collaboration of Hunger Strike sounded as if it originated by Morello and crew as Commerford filled in quite nicely for Vedder.
Cornell sounded as great as he's ever has and Morello is jumping all around the stage having a great time, wailing his guitar. Perhaps that's because Morello isn't tied down to political causes on the stage, and is opting to keep them as an off stage activity. Whatever the reason, Audioslave's creativity keeps flowing. An untitled new song from the band's third CD was introduced. RATM had only released three CD's in their ten-year exixtance.
Seether played but didn't perform as they could have just stood on stage and played their CD. Their tribute to Dave Williams and Dimebag Darrell as well as their Deftones cover wasn't as moving as it could have been. The guys in 30 Seconds certainly did their best to prove themselves. They were the 2nd band I've seen to come out looking like the Baseball Furies from the movie "The Warriors" (Mudvayne was the first in December 2001). They jumped into the audience, and interacted with the crowd with fierce determination to win some fans. They might have just done that.
