It seems by the time the buzz band makes it big, there’s a new buzz band that takes its place. Bloc Party, the buzz band of the moment, comes out and the crowd is already dancing before the first 5 notes are played. By the time the second 5 notes are played, the crowd cheers so loud that they can almost drown out the band. Bloc Party played a mix of their old and new to an over-enthusiastic crowd who feel hip in having seen the buzz band of the moment.
But as Bloc Party makes it big, the other band on the bill Tokyo Police Club is becoming the new buzz band. The people who came in early got a jump start in being hipper as TPC played a mix of their old and new, it’s so new that it hasn’t been released yet. That will give the hipster crowd (or whatever you want to call them) something to brag about. Their performance however, could use a bit more practice.
And just how much practice did opening band Smoosh get? These young girls are very tight despite their young age. This band may be the biggest buzz of them all and the ones who were there very early now have a jump start on the rest. |
