The Affair

Venue:
Bowery Ballroom
September 30, 2005

Electric Six didn't even get onstage until half past midnight. But when they finally came on, they played a healthy dose of new material that hasn't been released (in the States anyway). Singer Dick Valentine who's stage antics include jumping jacks and leg lifts, merely waved his hand at the audience, who cheerfully returned the favor in kind. It was apparent that he really wanted the music to speak for itself.

Queens openers Peelander-Z, whose performance I missed, and regrettably so, was getting off stage as I got to the venue. They looked like they have some very interesting band members. Detroit's Outrageous Cherry looked and sounded like they belonged in the 60's which is fine because the 60's was the best decade for music, and The Crimia, a band from England, whose music doesn't match their stage antics, played to the half interested crowd. Only Peelander-Z could be seen walking around in outlandish outfits peaking my curiousity as to what they sound like. I will make sure to catch them next time.

The only dissapointing aspect was that Electric Six's set was only an hour. What they really need are less opening bands and more time. That and to release Senor Smoke in the States already..
