I wanted the best, but did I actually get the best? The night started on the right note when openers ZO2 hit the stage. This New York trio fits perfectly on the bill with their brand of hard rock, you know the one that actually has singing. Next up were Poison. Poison took me back in time to the 80's where I could not stand bands like Poison, especially Poison. Almost 20 years later, nothing has changed. I don't know why they were on the bill as they headline their own festival. I wish they did so I didn't have to sit through them.
Next up were Gene, Paul, Tommy and Eric. Tommy and Eric? You know, the scabs that are wearing the Ace and Peter makeup. Sure they sound better, but theyâre still not genuine. Don't believe me, replace Gene and Paul and talk to me then. The stage was your typical over the top, constant explosions and streaming lights that you should expect from a Kiss show. The rarities played like "She" and "Parasite" were good to hear, but I could have certainly done without the abysmal "God Gave Rock N Roll to You" complete with a teary-eyed Simmons. I donât know about you, but I don't want to see the Demon crying.
Paul Stanley talks way too much between songs and the effeminate manner in which he says "People, I can't hear you!" could have been done once, twice the most. Too many empty seats, which is plaguing most shows this summer, may be the wake up call to Gene and Paul to do what the Farewell tour promised.
