How do you review a concert that was supposedly watched by two billion people all over the world? Like any other I suppose. Live Earth, the Concert for Climate Change was put together by Al Gore in hopes of educating more people about the effects of Global Warming. But was putting on a rock concert the best way to do that? How about having two billion people glued to their televisions for 24 hours?
There was certainly enough electricity coming through from various performers. Melissa Etheridge clearly was the most passionate in her 20-minute set while Bon Jovi and the Dave Matthews Band were clearly the crowd favorites. Fall Out Boy is severely overrated and Alicia Keys has the most stunning voice I've heard. The Smashing Pumpkins thought to take the opportuity to promote their new CD, "Zeitgeist" by having a plane fly around the stadium dragging a banner. Way to help the environment Corgan.
Reaching a global audience meant having shows on each continent. North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa and even Antartica had shows (of course the audience in Antartica consisted of penguins). The impact of the shows have yet to be seen. Only time will tell what havoc Climate Change will bring, but even if you don't believe the hype, with the price of gas and electricity, one would surely want to bring their gas and electric bills down.
