I'm standing here on Pier 54 with a large crowd that seems to be getting bigger and bigger with each passing moment. As the sunny day begins to get cloudy, with particularly dark clouds looming, I start to get the feeling that this isn't going to turn out too well. To promote MTV's Video Music Awards, Moby, Sasha & Digweed and Our Lady Peace are giving a free show on Pier 54. I find a spot by the fence and wait for OLP to hit the stage. The fence behind me seems to lean further and further away from me. I turn around and it is being bent backwards because a bunch of people are leaning on it. OLP hits the stage and while the crowd is mostly there for the DJ's, they don't give too much of a hard time to this rock
band.
Not being daunted by the different crowd, OLP hits them with a barrage of new songs from their new album "Gravity." The songs were met with a few cheers, but their biggest cheer of the night was when they announced
their final song. The crowd became too intense for me to stick around, and since Digweed called in sick, I didn't feel the need to stay. If Moby put on a great show, then I really missed something, but otherwise, I'm happy with my decision to leave early.
