I have never been to Cabo Wabo. In fact, I'm not quite sure where in Mexico it is. All I know is that it must be one helluva place to party. The party at Irving Plaza started at 10:00 p.m. but it really kicked into gear when the guest of honor arrived. Wearing his sunglasses and drinking margaritas, the red rocker cranked up the volume and showed everyone that he and his back-up band The Waboritas make up the world's greatest bar band. "I didn't do this to promote my tequila." Even though he did. "I didn't do this to promote myself or my new band." Even though he did that too. "I did this because Dave (David Lee Roth) didn't want to play New York, so I said, I'll do this for the fans." Which he did. Of course a party isn't a party without a few surprise guests.

The first guest to take the stage was Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, who looked like he belonged by Hagar's side more than his main band. To top the evening off, ex-Van Halen and current Tribe of Judah singer Gary Cherone joins the fray for a few closing tunes. A great party in which there were no VIP's, nobody under 21, and nobody sober by the end of the evening.
