How can one really describe a Tool show? Itís not something that is just seen or heard. A Tool show is a banquet that engages all of the senses. It mesmerizes by using two screens that show videos such as eye operations and other disturbing images. It hypnotizes by having singer Maynard Keenan stand in the back behind the other band members, so the audience can concentrate solely on the images and music. It dazzles with a spectacular light show that's worth the price of admission on its own. The crowd at the Continental Airlines Arena thought they were ready for this show, but even they weren't prepared for the ocular and sonic onslaught that was bestowed upon them. Give them credit though, they were preparing themselves before the show started. They were even receptive to the opening band, Tomahawk, despite singer Mike Pattonís attempts to get the crowd to boo him. Neither having two overweight "Adonis'" dancing on stage or wearing a Lakers shirt and yelling "three-peat!" (The L.A. Lakers beat the New Jersey Nets in the NBA Championships). None of that seem to bother the crowd for they knew it wouldn't be long before they would be engulfed in multiple sensations that would no doubt secure all sorts of emotional responses. They, as well as I, were certainly not disappointed. .
